A Bit Frustrated With My Camry

So today after class, I planned to drive straight to my mechanic to see what that screeching/scrape noise was all about. I get into my c ar after class and turn the A/C on “HI” , and guess what? No air blowing out of the front vents.

What I mean by that is, I can hear the actual fan blowing as it should, but the air no longer comes out of the face vents. Air ONLY blows out of the windshield vents now. You can adjust the dial as much as you want, but other than a clicking inside the dash, it doesn’t do anything... S o that’s just dandy.

Drove over to my mechanic and I tell him that the air no longer comes out of the face vents. He told me that it had something to do with the blender door being stuck (which probably explains t he foam that started coming out of the vents, as you can see in the picture) and that the amount of money it would cost me to fix that, wouldn’t even be worth it, since the dash has to come out. I kinda figured it would be costly to repair, so now I have that to deal with....

That horrendous noise I was hearing was simply due to my rear brake pads being low. So no surprise there.

I’m going to get the rear pads/rotors done in a few days, but now have to deal with the frustration of air only blowing out of the windshield vents. Hopefully it magically fixes itself. :(

I’ve been a bit pissed at my Jeep since I just had to replace the calipers, so honestly it’s good to hear that even a Camry will have issues.

God,  car ownership can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. I can definitely understand why some people just lease a new Prius every few years and forget about it.

Did your mechanic check for a leak in the vacuum hose from the engine that provides the vacuum pressure to operate the blend doors? Or do those not run on vacuum in this car? If they do, it’s possible you have an easier fix that doesn’t involve disassembling the dash, but if you can get warm air to come out of those same vents, then probably not.

Quite tempting to sell the Camry because it’s been pissing me off lately. But I c an’t bring my self to, only because it used to be my uncle’s car and he keeps asking me about it. He still really likes it, haha.

Would be a shame if he asked me about it one day and I’m just like, “oh.... funny story.... I kinda sorta accidentally on purpose sold it. ”

hmmm, I’m not quite sure if it runs on vacuum or not. I’ll have to bring it up next time I go back.

Yep, exactly. Even a Camry can cause headaches. Would be nice to have a brand new car, but I have no interest in a car payment being so young.
